MNLF Misuari Faction attacked in Zamboanga City - Recent Updates

Zamboanga City -  here are the latest information or updates on the standoff between the government and MNLF Misuari faction in this city.

As of September 9, 2013 at 1:06pm, "Since the start of the crisis at around 4:30am today, the ZCPO report that 6 people were killed—one policemen,  1 navy personnel and 4 civilians and 24 wounded in the course of the encounter between government troops and the rebels. More casualties are reported on the enemy side.

The barangays affected are Sta. Catalina, Sta. Barbara, Talon-talon and Mampang. 20 hostages are reported in Sta. Catalina and 200 hostages at Kasanyangan Village in Mampang.

Some 600 evacuees from Arena Blanco and Rio Hondo are sheltered at the grandstand; 847 evacuees at Tetuan Central School and Tetuan Parish Church while several others are at the Talon-talon National High School." said Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco in a statement.

As of September 9, 2013 at 6:00pm, "As of now, per record from the City Social Welfare Office, there are 174 families with 1,099 individuals housed at Tetuan Parish, 50 families with 200 individuals at Tetuan Central School, 25 families with 115 individuals at ICAS-tetuan, 231 families with 1,071 individuals at the grandstand as of 3:30pm today.

Casualties remain at 4 killed and 14 wounded. Number of hostages, per ZCPO report is 87 in Kasanyangan, 20 in Sta. Catalina mosque, 20 in Talon-talon mosque, 10 in Camacop Sta. Barbara, undetermined number at SDK building in Sta Catalina, undetermined number at Fernandez store in Lustre." Mayor Beng Climaco statement.

AT GRANDSTAND: No. of families - 4,716 with 25,917 dependents
IN 25 SATELLITE EVAC. CENTERS: No. of families - 3,060 with 13,343 dependents

TOTAL: 7,779 families displaced with 39,260 dependents.

Additional Troops for the government.

On its Twitter account, the Zamboanga City government posted a photo showing Army, Air Force, Navy and Philippine National Police arriving at Edwin Andrews Airbase.
